Our technology improves the way heat is conducted into your environment. By improving the efficiency (getting more heat into your offices and rooms rather than being lost or wasted) we reduce the amount of energy consumed and therefore both the cost and emissions from your system.
Without our technology, systems naturally deteriorate over time. The dissolved gases in the system water are primarily responsible. These gases not only prevent heat being transferred efficiently, but also cause corrosion. Trapped air, for example, is the reason that radiators are cold in places, and hot in others. Not have the full surface area of the radiator working means that the boiler has to work harder to reach the temperatures set by the thermostat.
Nitrogen and Oxygen are the biggest problems in any heating system. These two gases are the main components of air and appear in three different forms:
1. Free Air. This is released due to the water being heated is responsible for air locks and dead spots on radiators. Free air prevents the full surface area of radiators from heating properly, and air locks can prevent hot water flow partially or completely meaning that your boiler is running for longer to overcome these blockages because more heat energy is disappearing from your flue than being conducted by the heating system.
2. Entrained Air. These are the microbubbles that form during the heating process and line the interior of pipes and radiators acting as literal wall of air preventing heat being conducted into the room. Air is a fantastic insulator, which is great in double glazing, but terrible in a radiator. It takes 30x the amount of energy to over come the air barrier as it does when the water is in direct contact with the interior skin of the radiator. That means more passes through the boiler to heat the water to overcome this layer, meaning more energy is needed to get the room to temperature.
3. Dissolved Air. This is the most dangerous as this is the element that causes rust and deterioration, is responsible for most of the breakdowns, and shortened system life.
Hotspot REMOVES all of these types of air from your system, meaning that it tansfers heat at OPTIMUM efficiency. This reduces operational costs, prolongs system life and reliability, and prevents unexpected call out and maintenance issues.
Our research is backed up by the University of Manchester, and we have many technical trials showing how our systems work to improve energy efficiency. Please contact us to find out more!
